About the artist
Luminous colors, attention to detail and a great respect for realism are some of the qualities that you will see as you view the work of Janine Marie Martens. Janine’s passion for interior design and love of nature guide her as she paints florals, botanicals and still lifes. She is intrigued by the source of light as it casts shadows on organic and structural objects. She combines this fascination with a sensitive understanding of pigments and values, resulting in paintings that display a casual and fresh feel.
Janine paints in oils and watercolors. She has studied under Greg Kreutz of the New York Art Students League, Jeff Legg, and Jean Chambers of the Fredericksburg Art School. While in California she was represented by The Brandon Gallery in Fallbrook, and since moving to Austin is represented by The Artisans at Rocky Hill in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Janine is a member of Capitol Art Society and the Austin Visual Arts Association.
