Hand Blown Glass

I have a modest collection of glass art. When I look at my pieces or other pieces in stores and galleries this medium captivates my imagination. The artisans who create them intrigue me. What specific skills they have. I’m always turning and twisting them to chase the reaction to whatever light source is handy. What a trip. The empty framed canvas in this painting is waiting for the day when I may perhaps do justice to just such a piece. Time will tell.
Nocturne

This little gallery wrap came from a photo I took in Zilker Botanical Gardens here in Austin.
Power Struggle in Limestone

These floxgloves and delphiniums are fighting for space in their limestone planter. This 16″ x 20″ oil was inspired by some photos and happy memories of one of my favorite nurseries – Roger’s Garden’s in Newport Beach, California. This is certainly not intended to be a realistic depiction. More daydreaming. Roger’s is a perfectly manicured property, very upscale, high priced, etc. The designs are unique and the selection is extensive. Their hanging baskets are the largest – most oppulent I have seen anywhere except in Holland and Victoria.
The Lady Likes Red

I photographed this rose in a very sumptuous two acre Fallbrook, California garden. Originally I painted it more pink than it was in life. Today I revisited this 9″ x 12″ oil. and had some fun playing with Mother Nature. I have a friend who loves red and had an important birthday this month. As soon as it dries I will be taking it to her as my gift.
